The South Kingstown Police Department has announced that Keith B. Johnson has been arrested for murdering his wife. On December 13, 2023, the South Kingston Police said in a press release that 62-year-old Keith B. Johnson had been charged with first-degree murder and assault with a dangerous weapon in the slaying of his wife, 59-year-old Gina L. Johnson.

Around 9:11 AM this morning, South Kingstown Police received a call from a concerned resident who saw a man cutting through his yard. The suspect was described as having tan pants and a black jacket. Although officers responded to the area, they did not locate the individual.

At approximately 9:24 AM, a South Kingstown Police Department officer saw a man on Church Street who fit the description of the suspect. The man was later identified as Keith Johnson. When officers approached Johnson, he allegedly produced two knives.

Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Johnson allegedly became noncompliant and walked away. After being tased, Johnson was arrested. Officers discovered that an unresponsive female had been found at 78 Dam Street which is the address of Mr. Johnson. Authorities say Johnson will be charged with first-degree murder and assault with a dangerous weapon as a result of the investigation.
