According to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, a Kansas City man was charged for his role in causing injuries to a young woman whose body was found near a residence in Grandview. Tyheem V. Anderson faces three felony counts, including first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and kidnapping. Court records suggest the victim went to Anderson’s residence in Kansas City.
The defendant informed police he and the victim had been in a long relationship. On November 11, 2023, a witness called police to tell them she had seen the victim restrained in a surrender position. The next day, officers received a tip that they could find the victim at another residence. Grandview officers responded and located the victim in a parking lot near the Grandview residence.
According to court documents, the victim suffered trauma including stab and gunshot wounds. She was also missing a tooth. Officers searched a Kansas City residence where they found mail and other items with the defendant’s name on them. Officers also found blood and a tooth. Court documents say the defendant admitted to being with the victim on November 12 when they had an argument.
The Jackson County Prosecutor is exploring other charges.
