Update – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver killed in the head-on collision as 59-year-old David McCallister of Belle, West Virginia. The driver of the SUV was transported to Montgomery General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies are investigating the circumstances that contributed to the crash. They have not ruled out a possible medical episode.

Original – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal crash in Handley, West Virginia. KCSO reports that its deputies are on the scene of a two-vehicle crash between Handley and Montgomery on MacCorkle Avenue Southeast.

At this time, it has been confirmed that two people were involved in the crash. One person was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The other individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

KCSO says MacCorkle Avenue SE between Handley and Montgomery will be closed as the crash is investigated. It is recommended to use US Route 60 and other alternative routes to avoid lengthy delays.
