Kanawha County, West Virginia – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in connection to a serious crash early Sunday at the Elk River Bar and Grill at 2476 Pennsylvania Avenue.
According to a KCSO statement, deputies found a two-vehicle collision in the parking lot. A man was pinned between one of the vehicles and the building. The crash also resulted in significant damage to the bar.
KCSO says the investigation indicated that 39-year-old Adam Fujita had been consuming alcoholic beverages at the bar before the incident. Witnesses allegedly said Fujita became disorderly and engaged in arguments with patrons, including the man who was injured.
Authorities allege the confrontation escalated after the involved parties left the bar. Fujita allegedly left the parking lot in his Toyota 4-Runner but returned and rammed a Kia parked in front of the bar.
The impact pushed the Kia into the victim who became pinned against the building. KCSO says the victim suffered life-threatening injuries. Fujita was charged with Malicious Assault, Destruction of Property, and DUI Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Fujita was arranged and a $20,000 surety or 10% cash bond was set.
