Juvenile charged in Owensboro shooting on Friday

The Owensboro Police Department has announced charges against a juvenile following a shooting on Friday. OPD officers responded to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital on March 29, 2024 for a report of a juvenile female who was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Criminal Investigation Division detectives responded to assume control of the investigation. Detectives and officers focused their attention on an apartment in the 4700 block of Towne Square Ct based on statements and evidence. OPD says it was determined that another juvenile was present in the apartment and had been in possession of a handgun.

The juvenile suspect is accused of negligently discharging the firearm leading to the victim being hit in the right leg. The juvenile suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center. The suspect is facing multiple charges including the following.

  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
  • Possession of Handgun by Minor 2nd or > Offense
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence

OPD says the juvenile had previously been charged with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Assault, Terroristic Threatening, and more.
