Today, the State Attorney for Florida’s 7th Circuit announced that Joseph Chucci had been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Last month, Chucci was found guilty of First-Degree Arson Dwelling by a Volusia County jury. Following a two-day trial, the jury found Chucci guilty.
On February 5, 2022, the residents of a home on Poincianna Drive in Port Orange were awoken by a fire. Authorities say the main bedroom and other bedrooms in the residence were severely damaged. Port Orange Police detectives determined that the defendant had set the fire.
Chucci was caught on surveillance video running from the part of the home where the fire started. Detectives found Chucci’s cell phone, hat, and gas container near the scene. The case was investigated by the Port Orange Police Department. Today, Chucci was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
