Joliet Police Department announces death of Romeo Nance after seven people found deceased at residences on West Acres Road

The Joliet Police Department is investigating after seven people were found deceased inside two residences. Around 12:08 p.m. on January 22, 2024, officers responded to the 2200 block of West Acres Road after receiving word from the Will County Sheriff’s Office that multiple deceased individuals were found in two homes on January 21, 2024. Deputies were on the scene when they found evidence of a possible crime scene at a home at 2212 West Acres Road.

Inside the residence, deputies found five deceased individuals who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. A short time later, deputies found another crime scene at 2225 West Acres Road and entered the home where they found two more deceased individuals with gunshot wounds. Detectives identified 23-year-old Romeo Nance as a possible suspect in the homicides.

Nance is also believed to have been involved in another fatal shooting and a non-fatal shooting, according to authorities. Around 8:30 p.m. this evening, Nance was located by the US Marshals in Natalia, Texas. Authorities say Nance had killed himself with a handgun.
