The Joliet Police Department says it has arrested 19-year-old Juve Rubio for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Assault. Around 1:17 p.m. on August 31, 2024, JPD officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of East Cass Street for a report of a person shot at.
At the scene, responding officers were informed that a 20-year-old male arrived at the residence to speak to Rubio about a dispute over money. Rubio was allegedly standing in the driveway when the victim arrived in a vehicle.
JPD says it is believed that Rubio fired a handgun multiple times at the victim who was still inside the vehicle. The victim was not hit, but the vehicle was struck by gunfire and disabled. Officers established a perimeter around the residence after learning Rubio had retreated inside.
JPD confirms Rubio eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Authorities obtained a search warrant and already found ammunition inside the home. A firearm was not recovered.
