New Market, Tennessee – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a New Market man on four counts of Especially Aggravated Rape of a Child.
According to JCSO, Criminal Investigation Division investigators used the East TN High Tech Task Force to obtain additional digital evidence that led to more charges being filed against Leslie A. Byrd.
The charges have increased Byrd’s bond to $1,000,000. Byrd remains in custody at the Jefferson County Justice Center.
On March 27, 2024, JCSO deputies responded to a residence on Fielden Store Road for a report of suspicious activity.
JCSO says its deputies found evidence of possible child sex crimes. 59-year-old Leslie A. Byrd was charged with three counts of Unlawful Photograph, Aggravated Sexual Battery, and Unlawful Possession of a Child Like Sex Dollar.
