A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a fatal two-car crash in Johnson County, Kansas. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reports that it received a call of a two-vehicle crash near southbound I-35/Sunflower Road. Deputies shut down the highway and diverted traffic during the investigation.
JCSO says one vehicle with a single occupant crashed into another vehicle with three occupants. The driver of the car succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The victim was identified as 76-year-old Sherry L. Pena.
Two other passengers, 45-year-old Natalia L. Pena and a six-year-old male, were taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Both are expected to survive. Deputies performed DUI tests on the driver of the striking vehicle.
39-year-old Jason E. Brumley was arrested and taken to the Johnson County Adult Detention Center. No other details are available at this time.
