Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a July 2023 homicide. On July 3 around 12:16 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the 2800 block of Hartford Street Southeast after receiving a report of a shooting.

At the scene, officers found 33-year-old Langston Sharps suffering from gunshot wound injuries. The victim passed away at the scene. On December 28, 2023, Seventh District officers arrested 22-year-old Jahi Settles. He has been transported to the Homicide Branch and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
