The Jackson Police Department has announced the arrest of Curtis Leon Sawyer on a charge of Capital Murder. According to JPD, Sawyer allegedly killed a 44-year-old man after taking his tennis shoes.

Sawyer is currently being held with no bond. JPD says it obtained additional information about Sawyer’s whereabouts on November 26, 2024.

During surveillance, police reportedly saw Sawyer departing a location in a black Nissan Altima. Authorities carried out a traffic stop that escalated into a short vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit ended with the arrest of Sawyer in Brandon, Mississippi.
