Update – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of the Shady Cove homicide as 64-year-old Lowell Driver III of Trail, Oregon. The incident happened on June 1 in rural Shady Cove.
A Jackson County Grand Jury has returned an indictment charging Travis Driver with second-degree murder. JCSO reports that Travis Driver is the son of the victim.
An Oregon State Police forensic pathologist completed an autopsy confirming the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
Original – A suspect has been taken into custody on a charge of second-degree murder in connection to a homicide in Shady Cove. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded to a potential homicide around 11:03 a.m. on June 1, 2024 in rural Shady Cove.
Dispatch received a call about a possible homicide with an armed suspect at a property in the 23000 block of Highway 62 north of Shady Cove. Deputies arrived with the SWAT Bearcat to find the armed suspect.
Dispatch received another call about the suspect possibly being at the trail market. Deputies responded and took the suspect into custody without incident. The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
JCSO Medical Examiners responded to the scene to investigate. The cause of death is pending at this time. The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Travis Clayton Driver. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
