Irwindale, California – The Irwindale Police Department has announced the arrest of an arson suspect on Sunday.

According to a statement from IPD, the Los Angeles County Fire Department Engine #29 responded to a small brush fire near Rivergrade River and the 605 Freeway around 12:30 p.m. on January 12.

Police say LACOFD personnel observed a suspect actively lighting fires in the area. IPD officers responded and were directed to the suspect.

IPD says 29-year-old Ruben Montes of Baldwin Park was detained and arrested for arson.
