The Houston Police Department announced in a media release that it is investigating a fatal shooting of a woman at 3401 Dunvale Street around 7:15 p.m. on January 17, 2024. The identity of the 23-year-old female victim is being withheld pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Finlay and L. Kauffman, officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at 3401 Dunvale Street where they found the victim unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.

Detectives say they believe the victim’s ex-boyfriend is a person of interest, but he has not been located or charged at this time.
