The Houston Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a fatal shooting on January 12. 38-year-old Steven Pearson is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Jonathan Lemons. According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Lazo and Detective M. Providence, officers responded to a shooting at a parking lot at 5400 Heatherbrook Drive around 8:05 p.m. on January 12, 2024.

At the scene, officers found a victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot having been shot multiple times. The victim was later pronounced deceased at Ben Taub General Hospital. HPD said further investigation identified Pearson as the suspect in the shooting.

On February 22, 2024, Pearson was arrested by HPD SWAT team officers without incident.
