Original – Arrests have been made in a shooting at the Benton Apartments on Primm Lane in Hoover, Alabama. The Hoover Police Department reports that the 911 Center received multiple calls about shots being fired at the apartment complex around 7:16 a.m. on August 12, 2024.

Officers reached the scene within seconds and found a 16-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. HPD says the victim was waiting for his family to drive him to school.

HPD claims two people approached the vehicle and fired numerous rounds into the car. The victim was struck multiple times. Two more individuals exited the apartment and fired rounds at the initial suspects who fled in a vehicle.

The victim was taken to UAB Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition. The two adult males who shot at the first suspects were detained and held for questioning. Around 7:50 a.m., HPD police were contacted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office about a man who was found at the McAdory Fire Department with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Detectives say they determined that this person was one of the suspects who shot into the vehicle. The man who drove the suspect to the fire department was detained and is believed to be the second shooter of the 16-year-old.

He was driving a vehicle reported stolen from Hoover in March 2024. The two suspects who fired into the vehicle and hit the juvenile have been charged with Attempted Murder. Detectives do not believe the victim was involved in any activity that would’ve led to the shooting.

Instead, it is believed he was mistakenly identified. 21-year-old Marlon Kentral Williams is charged with Attempted Murder. 25-year-old Bryan DeCarlos Mills Jr. is charged with Attempted Murder.
