The Honolulu Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a slaying on Makaloa Street. According to an HPD media release, officers responded to a stabbing with multiple victims around 5:30 a.m. on February 18, 2024.
HPD said officers determined that three victims had been involved in an argument with the suspect. The argument escalated and led to the suspect stabbing the victims. HPD identified the victims as a 28-year-old male, a 25-year-old male, and a 26-year-old male.
The three victims suffered stab wounds and were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The 28-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries. The other two victims were treated and released. HPD said the suspect fled on foot on Makaloa Street in possession of the knife.
Witnesses reported that the suspect was with a female when they met the victims outside, according to authorities. They reportedly walked in together before an argument ensued. The victims allegedly started assaulting the suspect who brandished a knife and stabbed them.
During the investigation, the suspect was identified and arrested for attempted murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, and two counts of attempted murder in the second degree. The Department of the Prosecuting Attorney will seek charges.
