Hobbs, New Mexico – The Hobbs Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Jonathan Losoya of Hobbs.
According to an HPD statement, officers responded to the shooting of Losoya on August 5, 2024. The victim passed away at an area hospital.
On January 22, 2025, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Ubaldo Herrera of Lovington, New Mexico.
On January 27, authorities located Herrera near the 2000 block of East Clinton Street in Hobbs and took him into custody.
Hobbs is charged with Murder 1st Degree, Tampering with Evidence 3rd Degree, Bribery or Intimidation of a Witness 3rd Degree, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon 3rd Degree.
According to HPD, Herrera has an extensive criminal history.
