The Hinsdale Police Department has provided an update on the recent incidents at a residence on Plain Road. HPD reports that emergency services responded to a residence for a report of CPR in progress on a toddler who may have drowned on June 17, 2024.
At the scene, life-saving measures were taken but the child succumbed and was pronounced deceased. HPD says the death is not considered suspicious. On June 18, 2024, HPD responded to the same residence for a 37-year-old man who was distraught, barricaded, and threatening self-harm with a firearm.
HPD says multiple shots were fired from outside the home and possibly inside the residence. Police attempted to safely resolve the situation. HPD reports that a male subject sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
