Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrests woman for assaulting two HART employees

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports that it has arrested a woman accused of assaulting two Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority employees. HCSO says 36-year-old Tamara West is charged with Burglary of Conveyance with Assault or Battery, Battery on Public Transit Employee, and Battery on a Licensed Security Officer.

HCSO reports that its deputies responded to the area of 13000 North 27th Street for reports of two HART workers being battered by West around 4 p.m. on October 29, 2024. Authorities say West was trying to board a HART bus that was at full capacity.

The HART supervisor instructed the bus to continue due to overcrowding. Deputies say that West was upset because she was not able to get on the bus. She is accused of intentionally hitting both employees in their faces and arms.

She also allegedly spat on them. Police say West fled the scene before was later found and taken into custody.
