A Spring Hill man is behind bars for the attempted murder of his adult brother. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call about a shooting on Stillwater Avenue in Spring Hill around 5:19 a.m. on June 18, 2024.
HCSO says Navor Mora called 911 to tell authorities he had just been involved in an argument with his adult brother and he had shot him. At the scene, deputies rendered aid to the victim who was transported to a local trauma center.
The victim is expected to make a full recovery. HCSO says Mora claimed he was in his bedroom when the victim slid a note under his door saying he was a bum and he needed to get a job.
Mora allegedly admitted he was angered so he got dressed and holstered his firearm before confronting his brother. Mora says he found his brother and punched him in the chin. A female witness told authorities that she attempted to intervene and Mora fell on top of her.
She told HCSO that Mora immediately began firing his gun after falling. The victim was struck multiple times. Mora reportedly told investigators that he was not attempting to kill his brother.
Mora has been arrested on a charge of Attempted Fire Degree Homicide. He is being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center.
