Update – The Hermosa Beach Police Department has identified the victim as 24-year-old Jared Minjares. HBPD detectives determined that the fatal injuries were self-inflicted and considered an accidental death.

The Hermosa Beach Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred around 6 p.m. this evening. According to a social media post from the Hermosa Beach Police Department, officers responded to a call of unknown trouble and a woman scream near the 400 block of 2nd Street around 6 p.m. on December 18, 2023.

Once officers arrived, they located an adult male with several injuries that appeared to be stab wounds. HBPD said the victim’s injuries were fatal. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner will determine the victim’s cause of death.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at an apartment with several individuals home at the time. A second adult male was taken to an area hospital with an unrelated medical emergency. Authorities say this incident is not being investigated as a homicide at this time.
