Update 2 – Around 9:30 p.m., the Hermosa Beach Police Department with help from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau made entry into the residence in an attempt to safely take the suspect into custody. Police say a deceased subject was found inside the garage of the home. No other victims were found at the scene.
The family’s pet dog was rescued, uninjured, and reunited with them. The Los Angeles County Fire Department will investigate the arson. The cause of death and identity of the subject will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Update – The Hermosa Beach Police Department provided an update saying a female victim and two children had fled the residence in the 600 block of 11th Street. The male suspect remained barricaded inside and refused to make contact with police. At 4:30 p.m., flames and smoke were seen and the garage was fully engulfed.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and got the fire under control. With help from several other agencies, the Hermosa Beach Police are working to safely take the suspect into custody.
Original Story – Around 3:20 p.m., Hermosa Beach Police officers response to the 600 block of 11th Street in responded to unknown trouble or a possible domestic dispute. Once officers reached the scene, they were informed that a domestic incident occurred and several family members had exited the residence.
A male suspect barricaded himself inside. The Hermosa Beach Police Department asks locals to avoid the area at this time.
