The Healdsburg Police Department arrested two men after an officer spotted a sedan traveling at a high rate of speed. HPD reports that an officer was parked on the on-ramp of Highway 101 and Old Redwood Highway watching northbound traffic around 4:09 p.m. on June 2, 2024.
The officer witnessed a sedan traveling at a high rate of speed. HPD claims the vehicle appeared to cut off several vehicles and swerved multiple times. The officer managed to safely pull over the vehicle in the 400 block of Healdsburg Avenue.
HPD says the officer noticed several open beer bottles in the vehicle. The driver and passenger were drained before the vehicle was searched. HPD says the officer found a ghost gun with a laser attached under one of the front seats.
A ballistic body armor vest was allegedly found in the back seat. The driver was reportedly under the influence of alcohol while driving. The driver, 20-year-old Jesus Sanchez Ortiz, was arrested on charges of Carry Loaded Handgun When not Registered Owner, Carry Loaded Concealed Weapon, DUI, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
The passenger, 20-year-old Juan Galicia Elias, was charged with Carry Loaded Handgun When not Registered Owner and Carry Loaded Concealed Weapon.
