Update 2 – Sheriff Gonzalez confirms the suspect, Ronald “Ronnie” Palmer Jr. has been taken into custody. Palmer was found at a residence in the 12300 block of Ghita Lane. Palmer is accused of shooting and killing 28-year-old HCSO deputy Fernando Esqueda.

Update 1 – Sheriff Gonzalez has confirmed that the 28-year-old deputy has passed away. The five-year veteran with HCSO was on duty at the time of the incident. The investigation to identify and apprehend the killer is ongoing.

Original – A Harris County Sheriff’s deputy was shot on Wednesday night. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported the news on social media. Sheriff Gonzalez said that the deputy was shot in the 13200 block of Italian Cypress Trailer near Tidwell and 90.

The deputy was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. At this time, it is not known whether the deputy was on or off duty. No other details are available at this time.
