Harris County Deputy shot while responding to possible car break-ins on Cactus Bend Drive

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced this morning that a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy had been shot while responding to a call in the 2400 block of Cactus Bend Drive. HCSO responded to a call for service at the location related to suspects possibly breaking into automobiles.

The location is in Humble. Once the deputy reached the scene, a suspect allegedly shot the deputy striking the deputy in the hand. The deputy was able to return fire hitting at least one of the suspects. Two other suspects fled the scene. HCSO deputies are currently looking for those suspects.

The wounded suspect was taken to an area hospital. The suspect’s condition is not known at this time. The injured deputy was transported to Memorial Hermann-Northeast Hospital and is said to be in fair condition.
