Harford County Sheriff’s Office arrests suspect in Bel Air shooting on Wednesday morning

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in a shooting on Wednesday morning. According to HCSO, 31-year-old Joshua Brewster was arrested. Around 5:53 a.m. on April 10, 2024, deputies responded to the 200 block of Highland Drive for a report of a shooting. At the scene, deputies found an adult female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.

The victim refused treatment. A drone was used to search for the suspect. Deputies piloting the drone located the suspect behind apartments in the 300 block of Sunflower Drive. Brewster was quickly apprehended while hiding under a tree around 6:14 a.m. without incident.

HCSO says it was determined that Brewster confronted the first victim as she walked into the breezeway portion of her home. He allegedly threatened her with a gun and told her to turn around and put her hands behind her back. The second victim heard the commotion and entered the breezeway. When the second victim confronted Brewster, the suspect allegedly fled from the house.

While fleeing, he is accused of firing in the direction of the house hitting the first victim. HCSO says Brewster is also a suspect in an attempted burglary around 2:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Hanna Road. Brewster is being charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.
