Hamilton County, Tennessee – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says it had arrested a suspect who threw a Molotov cocktail into a vehicle.
According to HCSO, deputies responded to the 2200 block of Geneva Trail in Lakesite to investigate the deployment of an improvised incendiary device around 1:45 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
Police say the suspect, Jason Rogers Jr., was observed removing a security camera from the porch before throwing an incendiary device at the resident’s vehicle.
The device reportedly caused a fire that spread to the vehicle and the apartment’s front porch. Residents were inside the apartment at the time.
HCSO also alleges that Rogers was armed with a pistol at the time. The fire extinguished itself before deputies reached the scene. Authorities determined that Rogers was still on the scene inside his apartment.
A SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Team arrived at the location. Rogers eventually surrendered and was booked on charges of Possession of an Incendiary Device, Arson, Aggravated Assault, Vandalism, and Theft.
