The Hagerstown Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday night. HPD reports that its officers responded to the 300 block of North Jonathan Street around 11 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

A male victim was transported to Meritus Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. HPD believes the shooting was the result of a dispute between two individuals known to each other.

Western Maryland Regional Crime Lab detectives responded to the scene to investigate. No other details are available at this time.
