Gwinnett County Police announce charges in connection to deadly motor vehicle accident that claimed three lives

The Gwinnett County Police Department has charged a suspect in connection to a deadly motor vehicle accident. According to a media release, West Precinct officers responded to an auto accident at Peachtree Corners Circle and Elmside Village Lane around 4 p.m. on March 10, 2024. At the scene, officers requested the Accident Investigation Unit.

Three individuals were pronounced deceased. Three others were transported to an area hospital. GCPD says the driver of a dark blue BMW was traveling eastbound on Elmside Village Lane attempting to make a left onto Peachtree Corners Circle northbound. The driver of a yellow Chevrolet Camaro was traveling southbound on Peachtree Corners in the right lane.

The BMW entered the intersection when it was struck in the driver’s side door of the Camaro. The BMW’s driver and passenger passed away at the scene. They were identified as 46-year-old Armas Harding and 46-year-old Laura Rueda. One child, 5-year-old Aura Camarono, passed away at the hospital. Another child is still receiving treatment.

On March 22, 2024, GCPD announced that the driver of the yellow Camaro had been charged. 30-year-old Aaron Vaughn is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree, two counts of Transporting a Child in a Vehicle without proper restraint, Driver Required to Wear a Seatbelt, two counts of Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree, Serious Injury by Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Speeding.

GCPD says the preliminary investigation determined that Vaughn was traveling in excess of 100 MPH before the collision. The speed limit is 45 MPH. Vaughn’s 5 and 6-year-old daughters were restrained using the lap and shoulder belt instead of child safety seats as required by law. Vaughn’s 28-year-old female passenger is still being treated for her injuries. One of his daughters passed away while the other child is still receiving treatment.
