The Gresham Police Department is asking for the public’s help in a shooting investigation that happened in the 600 block of Northeast 178 Avenue. Around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a call of a person shot. At the scene, officers found a gunshot victim and learned he had been shot during a carjacking robbery.
According to a news release from the Gresham Police Department, the victim was sitting in the vehicle, staying warm, and charging his phone during a power outage. The suspect approached and there was at least one gunshot. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers found the stolen vehicle in a nearby parking lot. It had been stuck in a snow drift and abandoned by the suspect. Despite searching the area, officers did not find the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gresham Police Tip Line at 503-618-2719.
