The Greenville Police Department is investigating after a local man was fatally shot on the 4th of July. GPD reports that its investigators are investigating a 4th of July shooting that took place in the 100 block of Theobald Street.

At the scene, GPD officers found 63-year-old Pero Malone on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper left chest. Investigators provided medical aid until Pafford ambulance service personnel arrived.

The victim was transported to Delta Health System. Malone was later airlifted to UMMC in Jackson where he succumbed to his injuries. GPD confirms a person of interest has been established in the case.
