The Greenville Police Department is investigating its first homicide of the year. GPD officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 400 block of North Edison around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. At the scene, officers discovered two individuals who appeared to have been struck by gunfire.

As a result of the shooting, 38-year-old Marcus Jones of Greenville succumbed to his injuries. Another male victim is being treated after being flown to another hospital. GPD said in a social media post that the shooting appeared to be the result of an altercation.

At this time, no arrests have been made.
