The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting that injured a 7-year-old boy. Police say it received a 911 call about a 7-year-old male victim who suffered at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen around 11:35 p.m. on Saturday.

Authorities say they responded to 418 Crosby Circle where they found the victim who was transported to an area hospital for treatment. GCSO says its deputies arrested a 13-year-old male suspect.

Authorities say it is believed that the suspect shot the victim during a sleepover at the victim’s house. Following the shooting, the suspect reportedly fled the scene and was taken into custody a few houses down from the scene.

GCSO says it is working to determine the cause and motive behind the incident.
