A Greene County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot during the apprehension of a Springfield man. GCSO reports that members of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit responded to a residence in the 1400 block of East Blaine Street in Springfield, Missouri around 3:50 p.m. on June 17.
FAU deputies were serving a felony warrant to 41-year-old Theodore Davis when they encountered gunfire coming from the residence. GCSO deputies and Springfield Police Officers responded to the scene and set up a perimeter.
SWAT and SRT also responded to the scene. Deputies managed to convince Davis to come out of the residence and surrender peacefully. Davis was booked into the Greene County Jail. A deputy was struck by gunfire, but the rifle plates in the vest prevented the round from penetrating.
The deputy was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
