Georgia man turns himself in for fatal hit and run collision on Highway 789

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced that a man has turned himself in following a fatal hit and run collision. Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. said that Detective Jeremy Edward arrested a Georgia native who turned himself in.

Around 12:04 a.m. on July 18, 2024, CPSO deputies responded to a fatal hit and run on Highway 789 near Elaine Drive. The collision claimed the life of 38-year-old Michael Evans of Keithville.

CPSO says evidence suggests that a large truck was traveling northbound on Highway 789 when it swerved into the southbound lane hitting the victim before leaving the scene. A short time later, another vehicle traveling southbound hit the victim who was lying in the southbound lane.

The driver of the second vehicle stopped and called 911. Around 12 p.m. on the same day, 43-year-old Anthony Ebizie turned himself in to the Caddo Criminal Investigation Division. He has been charged with Hit and Run Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury or Death.
