The Gainesville Police Department is investigating a homicide in the area of 200 Northeast 16th Avenue. According to GPD, officers and detectives responded to the aforementioned location following a report of a white male deceased in a grassy area between two commercial buildings around 11:30 a.m. this morning.

Detectives say they obtained surveillance video showing a physical altercation between the victim and a man identified as Romanda Thompson. GPD said in a social media post that Thompson was taken into custody and charged with murder.
