Fulton Police Department investigating alleged self-defense stabbing on 20th Avenue with no arrests

The Fulton Police Department announced it is investigating a domestic disturbance that led to an alleged self-defense stabbing. In a social media post, the Fulton Police Department said officers responded to the 700 block of 20th Avenue for a reported domestic disturbance just after 7 PM on December 15, 2023. While traveling to the scene, the responding officer was informed that one subject had suffered a stab wound and the suspect had fled in an unknown direction.

Upon arrival, officers found a 47-year-old male inside the residence suffering from a stab wound to the chest. Officers provided medical aid until Fulton Fire and EMS reached the scene. The victim was transported to MercyOne Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.

Authorities say the perpetrator was identified as a 21-year-old man from Fulton, Illinois. The man was located a short time later at a residence in Fulton. He was transported to Morrison Community Hospital for injuries sustained during the reported altercation and released with minor injuries.

Fulton Police say the preliminary information suggests the stabbing occurred in self-defense based on multiple witness statements. The 21-year-old male was released following an interview with officers.
