The Fresno Police Department is searching for a wanted suspect. FPD reports that officers from the Southeast Policing District responded to the 1500 block of North Nine Street following a Shot Spotter alert around 4:17 p.m. on April 8, 2024.
At the scene, officers found 42-year-old Yong Van suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to CRMC before being pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives say they identified the suspect as 41-year-old Robert Phompong.
A warrant for murder has been issued for Phompong. The Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Baroni at 559-621-2516 or Detective Lopez at 559-621-2072.
