The Fresno Police Department has announced the arrest of 19-year-old Johan Beltran following an incident with a husband and wife. FPD reports that a husband and wife were in a parking lot near the intersection of Ashlan Avenue and Marks Avenue around 11 a.m. on August 6, 2024.
It is alleged that Beltran approached them and an argument ensued. The argument ended before the husband and wife left the parking lot in their vehicle. FPD alleges that Beltran followed them in his car.
Around 1 p.m., Beltran allegedly pulled up next to the couple at Cedar Avenue and Bellaire Avenue and began firing a handgun at them. The husband was hit multiple times. The wife accelerated away and drove her husband to CRMC.
The husband received medical treatment and FPD was notified of the shooting. Felony Assault detectives began investigating. Detectives say they used surveillance video to identify Beltran as the shooting suspect.
He was taken into custody around 5 p.m. on the same day. The victim is in stable condition at CRMC. Beltran was booked into the Fresno County Jail for felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
