The Freemont Police Department is investigating after an explosion at a residence on Waverly Terrace. Around 9:30 a.m. on January 16, 2024, FPD and Fire personnel responded to a home in the 37000 block of Waverly Terrace for a report of an explosion. The occupants of the home had left before authorities reached the scene.

While investigators attempted to determine the cause of the explosion, some nearby units were evacuated. One individual later checked into a local hospital in critical condition. According to FPD, the initial investigation indicates that there was a possible drug lab inside the residence.

Major Crimes Task Force Drug Detectives are at the scene investigating.
