The Freeport Police Department is investigating a shooting incident in the 300 block of West Douglas Street. FPD reports that officers responded to a report of gunshots at the aforementioned location around 1:14 p.m. on June 21, 2024.

Officers arrived at the scene a short time later. FPD says officers learned that two male subjects were fighting when the suspect fired several shots towards the victim. The victim was not struck by gunfire.

The suspect fled the scene in a silver SUV. Officers located evidence at the scene. FPD says there are no reports of injuries or damage in connection to this shooting. It is not believed that this was a random act of violence.
