Fort Worth Police arrest man in death of five people during collision on South Freeway

The Fort Worth Police Department has arrested a 19-year-old man on five counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated. FPD reports that the crash occurred in the 4800 block of South Freeway near the Seminary Drive exit around 12:30 a.m. on August 19, 2024.

South Division officers responded to the scene for a collision involving two vehicles. FPD says the investigation determined that a black Camaro was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a sedan at the exit ramp. The sedan caught on fire as a result of the collision.

The sedan contained five occupants who did not survive. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victims’ identities at a later time. The driver of the Camaro suffered serious injuries and received treatment at an area hospital.

19-year-old Eduardo Gonzalez was then taken to jail.
