The Fort Pierce Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting on Seaway Drive. Just before 9 a.m. on December 26, 2023, Fort Pierce Police officers responded to Cumberland Farms in response to a larceny call. Upon arrival at 975 Seaway Drive, an officer witnessed a person matching the suspect’s description walking west on Seaway Drive near Museum Pointe Park.

The officer attempted to stop the suspect. Police say witnesses reported seeing the suspect fire multiple times at the officer as he was exiting his patrol vehicle around 9:09 a.m. The officer and suspect exchanged gunfire several times. The suspect, who was wounded, was transported to HCA Florida Lanwood Hospital in stable condition.

The officer was not struck.
