The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a former music teacher at Grace Christian School for having an inappropriate relationship with a student. HCSO reports that deputies were informed of a sexual battery by an authority figure involving a pregnant 18-year-old victim on July 3, 2024.

HCSO alleges that 26-year-old Denzel Proctor began an inappropriate relationship with the victim in 2022 when she was 16. Detectives say the victim claimed to have engaged in a sexual relationship with the former music teacher on and off campus between 2022 and 2024 which resulted in her becoming pregnant.

In 2023, Proctor resigned from Grace Christian School. Following his departure, rumors of the allegations were reported to the Department of Children and Families by the school. On July 10, 2024, Proctor was arrested without incident.

Proctor is charged with five counts of Sexual Battery (Familial or Custodial Authority) (Authority Figure Over Student) and one count of Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor (Authority Figure Over Student).
