Farmers Branch Police announce arrests of Tren de Aragua members for capital murder of Nilzult Petit

The Farmers Branch Police Department has announced the arrests of three of four suspects in the capital murder of 33-year-old Nilzult Petit. 38-year-old Ehiker Alexander Morales Mendoza, 25-year-old Carlos Luis Zambrano Bolivar, and 22-year-old Jhonata Nahin Toro Gonzalez have been charged with Capital Murder and two counts of Aggravated Kidnapping.

FBPD says it was notified by a passing motorist of a body in the roadway in the 1100 block of Valley View Lane around 3:40 a.m. on August 24, 2024. Authorities say officers responded to the scene and found an adult deceased male with a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim was later identified as 33-year-old Nilzult Petit.

FBPD says detectives were informed that two juveniles, who were possibly related to the victim, had been found walking on the service road of IH-35E at Corporate Drive in Lewisville. Officers responded to that location and learned that Petit and two juveniles had been forcibly taken from an apartment complex in Fair Oaks in Dallas by unknown suspects.

FBPD says the suspects drove Petit and the juveniles to a location in Farmers Branch where Petit was fatally shot. The suspect fled with the two juveniles before releasing the juveniles unharmed. Detectives say they identified two of the suspects as Carlos Luis Zambrano Bolivar and Jhonata Nahin Toro Gonzalez.

Detectives believe Petit was an associate of the suspects and was allegedly involved in a complex ATM theft operation targeting several locations nationwide. Following an ATM theft, the suspects allegedly accused Petit of withholding stolen money from the other group members.

Detectives believe the suspects confronted Petit who was unwilling or unable to provide. Authorities say Petit and the two juveniles were forcibly taken from an apartment complex and driven near the 1100 block of Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch where Petit was killed.

FBPD detectives traveled to Aurora, Colorado on September 26, 2024 to speak to Bolivar and Gonzalez who were taken into custody by ICE. The men were charged with Capital Murder and Aggravated Kidnapping. They are awaiting extradition.

Authorities say a third suspect, Ehiker Alexander Morales Mendoza, was also identified. Police allege that Mendoza engineered the ATM theft operation. On October 11, 2024, Mendoza was apprehended in Las Cruces, New Mexico on outstanding warrants for Capital Murder and Aggravated Kidnapping.

Authorities say Petit and the suspects are affiliated with the Tren de Aragua gang. Detectives are still searching for 29-year-old Jhonny Jesus Martinez Serrano. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact FBPD at 972-919-1406.
