Erie County Sheriff’s Office searching for vehicle theft suspects who hit patrol vehicle

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the suspects involved in a hit and run that damaged a patrol vehicle. ECSO reports that a deputy was in the area of Wehrle Drive around 3:50 a.m. on July 30, 2024.

The deputy witnessed a black SUV with its doors open while passing Connection Drive. The deputy suspected multiple people may be attempting to break into vehicles. The deputy performed a U-Turn and traveled northbound on Connection Drive to investigate.

The individuals entered the black SUV which drove southbound on Connection Drive. The black SUV hit the patrol vehicle’s front push bar on the passenger side below fleeing east at a high rate of speed on Wehrle Drive.

ECSO confirms the deputy was not injured. The SUV will likely have passenger side damage. Two individuals living in the Connection Drive neighborhood reported larcenies from vehicles Tuesday morning. The investigation is ongoing.
