Emporia Police arrest two following stabbing incident at apartment complex on Congress Street

An 18-year-old and a 45-year-old from Emporia are in custody following a disturbance at an apartment complex on Congress Street. The Emporia Police Department reports that officers responded to an apartment building at 1101 Congress Street for a disturbance around 6 p.m. on June 1.

The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center took multiple calls regarding a stabbing. At the scene, officers determined that a neighbor dispute involving multiple people was ongoing.

An adult male victim suffered a stab wound to the back. The victim was transported to Newman Regional Health with injuries considered non-life-threatening. 18-year-old Raena Grana and 45-year-old Gary Grana were taken into custody.

Raena Grana is charged with Aggravated Battery, Felony Interference with Law Enforcement, and Disorderly Conduct. Gary Grana was booked on suspicion of Felony Interference with Law Enforcement and Disorderly Conduct.

EPD confirmed additional charges are possible as the investigation continues. No other details are available at this time.
