Elko Police Department arrest homicide suspect early Tuesday morning

Earlier today, Elko Police responded to a motel in the 1200 block of Idaho Street for a report of a shooting. At the scene, EPD officers found a victim in a room at the motel. EPD detectives responded to assume control of the investigation.

In an update, EPD announced that a homicide suspect had potentially been located. The suspect was potentially located in the area of 2nd and Cedar Street. Just after 1 a.m., EPD took a man into custody.

EPD said in a social media post that the suspect in Monday’s shooting was found hiding in a bedroom under blankets. Law enforcement made entry into the residence using distraction devices and chemical agents.

No officers were injured during the apprehension of the suspect. EPD will release more details once the suspect has been booked into the Elko County Jail.
